Gen Muhoozi Announces his Retirement from Army amidst Presidential Ambition

The UPDF Commander Land Forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced his retirement from the Army.

First son Gen Muhoozi, who is also the presidential advisor on Special Operations broke the news on his Twitter handle.

“After 28 years of service in my glorious military, the greatest military in the world, I am happy to announce my retirement. Me and my soldiers have achieved so much! I have only love and respect for all those great men and women that achieve greatness for Uganda everyday,” he tweeted.

His retirement comes a midst speculations that President Yoweri Museveni intends to step down in 2026 to pave way for his son’s ascension on to the top political seat in the country.
